Port Exhibitions is pleased to present “Obscured/Omitted”, a group exhibition featuring the artwork of Chris RWK, Lauren Rinaldi, Gregory Moncada, Laura Bochet, and Eric Haacht.
Through varying media, each of the artists featured, embrace the concept of the unseen. These artist use the act of obscuring, omitting and otherwise obstructing portions of their work to spark a conversation with the viewer.
Chris RWK is a street artist from Staten Island, NY. He believes that the notions within his pieces serve as a backbone to the many stories created by the onlooker when he or she is viewing the work.
Lauren Rinaldi is a painter from Philadelphia, PA. She works using unbiased portraits of women’s bodies as a vehicle to explore ideas about body image, sexuality, and self-identity and is often informed by her own personal narrative.
Gregory Moncada is a NewYork City based visual artist. He creates collages with gathered paper ephemera and an abstract graphic language that brands his work.
Laura Bochet is a painter and tattoo artist located in Brooklyn, NY. She experiments with techniques and media in her work and creates beautiful yet eerie portraits.
Eric Haacht is a painter from the United Kingdom. He creates portraits using thickly layered brush strokes that abstract the details of the subjects face and identity.
An opening reception will be held from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Saturday March 27th at Port Exhibitions located at 73 Wave Street, Staten Island, NY 10304. The gallery is open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
